Power Pages

External-facing websites built on the same data your organization runs on.

What Power Pages does

Microsoft Power Pages lets you build secure, data-driven websites for customers, partners, vendors, and other external users. These sites connect directly to Dataverse, so external users interact with the same data your internal team works with, through a governed, role-based portal.

Power Pages handles authentication, authorization, data access, forms, lists, and content management. Your team builds and maintains the site without writing a traditional web application from scratch.

Power Pages creates external-facing web portals that read from and write to Dataverse. External users authenticate through Azure AD B2C, SAML, OpenID Connect, or local accounts. Once authenticated, they see only the data their role permits.

Submit requests, check status, download documents. Give customers direct access to their data without loading your support team.

Shared deal registration, document exchange, and co-selling workflows. Collaborate with partners through a governed interface.

Vendor registration, document submission, and management workflows. Streamline procurement with self-service capabilities.

Permit and license application portals for government agencies. Event registration and community engagement sites.

Power Pages supports custom themes, JavaScript, Liquid templates, and CSS for full design control. It integrates with Power Automate for workflow triggers and with Power BI for embedded reporting.

Where organizations get stuck

Security Misconfiguration

Power Pages exposes Dataverse data to the internet. Table permissions, web roles, and column-level security must be configured precisely. The default settings are too permissive for most scenarios. One misconfigured table permission can expose every record to every authenticated user, or worse, to anonymous visitors.

Performance at Scale

Pages that query large Dataverse tables without proper filtering, indexing, or caching load slowly or time out. Organizations launch a portal, traffic grows, and performance degrades because nobody designed for scale.

No ALM Process

Portal configuration lives in Dataverse. Without a solution-based deployment process, changes are made directly in production. There is no version history, no rollback, and no testing before launch.

Authentication Complexity

Configuring Azure AD B2C or federated identity providers involves multiple systems: Azure portal, identity provider configuration, Power Pages site settings, and Dataverse contact records. A mistake in any layer blocks users or gives them the wrong access.

How we approach it

1

Portal Architecture and Design

We define the site structure, page hierarchy, navigation, user roles, and data access patterns before development begins. We map which Dataverse tables and views surface to which roles, and design the table permissions model.

2

Security Hardening

We configure table permissions at the most restrictive level that meets your requirements. We set up web roles, test access boundaries, and validate that no data leaks through misconfigured permissions. We configure content security policies, CORS settings, and authentication flows.

3

Identity and Authentication

We configure the identity provider (Azure AD B2C, SAML, or OpenID Connect), set up user registration and invitation workflows, configure multi-factor authentication where required, and test the full authentication lifecycle.

4

Development and Integration

We build the portal pages, forms, lists, and custom components. We integrate Power Automate flows for notifications, approvals, and data processing. We embed Power BI dashboards where stakeholders need external-facing analytics.

5

ALM and Deployment

Portal configuration deploys through the same CI/CD pipeline as every other Power Platform solution. Site settings, web templates, content snippets, and table permissions are all solution-aware and move through dev, test, and production with approval gates.

6

Performance Optimization

We configure caching, optimize Dataverse queries, set up CDN integration for static assets, and load-test the portal before launch.

What you get
